Triple T Wins Big At Iowa Meat Processors Association Convention
Ames, Iowa --- Triple T Specialty Meats won big this past weekend, taking home several Iowa shaped plaques from the Iowa Meat Processors Association’s annual convention.
The four-day convention offers processors and associated businesses throughout the state of Iowa classes and demonstrations at the Iowa State University Meat Lab, learning up-to-date methods and the latest on industry products.
Processors also had the opportunity to showcase their products at the convention by entering them into the Iowa cured meats competition and this year was especially exciting because IMPA was also hosting the Quad State competition, which means a second contest was held to determine whose cured meats would be titled the “Best of the Midwest”.
87 Iowa processing plants were represented at this year’s convention, 67 of which entered product into the competition. 19 processing plants from Missouri, Nebraska and Kansas were represented, 12 of them enter products into the “Best of the Midwest” competition against the 67 Iowa processors. Judges granted points based on the following criteria: External appearance, Aroma, Flavor Profile, Texture and Overall Craftsmanship.
The enthusiasm could hardly be contained during the awards banquet at the Triple T table as they were awarded Reserved Champion for Cured & Smoked Beef, Champion for Cooked Ring Bologna and Grand Champion for Canadian Bacon in Iowa, but it wasn’t until Triple T’s beef snack sticks were titled “Best of the Midwest”, by receiving Grand Champion that the shrieks of delight could no longer be suppressed.
You can view these plaques along with the many others received over the years at the Ackley facility, proudly displayed above the retail freezers filled with Triple T’s award-winning meats available for purchase.
